Union Station Wedding-Clarksville Wedding Photographer

Thanks for stopping by www.hollyannphoto.com.

A beautiful bride, a smiling groom, ruffles and lace and a very nervous photographer turned out to be a good combinations.

When I first was contacted by Kristy, we hit it off really well. As she described their wedding plans I was really excited. Everything sounds beautiful. Then she told me where they were going to have the ceremony. Union Station in Nashville. Yikes!! {Knees knocking.} Every wedding brings with it nerves for different reasons. Mostly, never wanting to disappoint my brides. So lots of work and planning goes into each wedding, on my part so that no “problem” will arise on my end. Union Station was no small task.

Kristy’s lovely dress.

The Union Station is an amazing hotel and very impressive from the outside as well.

A private moment. Aren’t they so cute together?!

Not only is Kristy beautiful but talented as well. She made her own veil and train. The wind played with it perfectly for these pictures too!

I this is my favorite photo of the whole beautiful wedding. While get her makeup done I introduced Kristy to pinterest.com which she may never forgive me for :-) {I know, it is addicting!!}

Finally, the unique table decorations which told us all what we could see from their wedding. Congratulations to a very sweet couple!!!

Pinterest for Photoshoots-Clarkville Portrait Photographer

Thank you for stopping by www.hollyannphoto.com.

Part of making portrait session turn out the way you envision them is by having a strong idea in place before you being shooting.

I love the look, feel and design of this photo!!

This shot came from a Pinterest idea that I had seen. We worked closely together to bring out the look. Great job by Galilee with the makeup! Necklase by the fabulous Fleur de Lis!

It wasn’t exactly what I had seen but that was ok. It was my starting point. Here is the board I mean.

Keep Smiling,

Boxes,Moving and Growing-Clarksville Photographer

Thank you for stopping by www.hollyannphoto.com.

So did you guess where Alvin was from yesterday’s post?! Well, I’m sure the boxes gave away the fact he was at a storage unit. {Duh!} But which one? Well Alvin was at A+Storage.

Moving is one of my least favorite things to do. Clarksville was our 12th move and I was more than ready to stay in one place!!! But moving to Clarksville with a bunch of our junk {yes, it still feels like junk when you are moving box after box!} meant we had to find a storage unit. Alvin {along we me, myself and I} have been very happy with the service and storage facility we have found at A+Storage. Jacklyn has been very helpful and always willing to help with a smile on her face.

Sometimes life has it’s unexpected surprises, like moving, but as a good friend reminded me today, “I don’t know the future, but I know WHO holds the future.”

Keep smiling, {Even when surrounded by boxes}

The beautiful fall weather we have been having makes me want to spend more time outside enjoy the cool breezes and deep blue sky. So, just about any excuse to get outside will work :-). If you have some little ones in the house today’s Butterfly Festival in Oak Grove, KY might just be the perfect ticket. It starts at 10am and goes until 5pm. At 5:00 they will be releasing over 500 butterfly. What a beautiful sight that will be. {I’ve see butterflies released at weddings and that is so unique.}  More information can be found on their website www.oakgrovebutterflyfest.com

Location,Location,Location-Clarksville Portrait Photographer

Thank you for stopping by www.hollyannphoto.com

Location, location, location. When planning for this photo shoot I had several spots picked out and this long raw iron fence was one that I had wanted to shoot with for a while. But while walking to get there I saw another area with the other backdrop and it worked perfectly as well. So when developing a “perfect picture” in your mind’s eye you need to be aware of your surrounds because it might just give you another opportunity you weren’t expecting!

I’d don’t know how many times we will be driving some place and I’ll just point out a building or spot and say,” Man, I would love to take pictures there!” My husband usually looks at me like I’m crazy and says, “Why!?” {Hehehe. I keep his life interesting.} It usually goes back to the texture that the spot will bring to my picture. So I just keep a mental list of streets and building that I want to shoot at someday. My list keeps growing too!

Talking about texture…This picture has a lot!! I think that is why I love this one the most from this shoot.

Keep smiling,

Holly

High School Mania-Clarksville Portrait Photographer

Thank you for stopping by www.hollyannphoto.com.

This session was shot for a promotion for Governor’s Square Mall and the model’s who were apart of the shoot were from local schools. The girls were so awesome to work with. When “D” came for her makeup and shoot she had to rush away from school soccer practice and when we finished she changed like a wiz into her bright red jersey, jumped in the car and headed to a game. Girl you are one busy beauty!! Keep up the hard work an you’ll go far.

Black and white is always a favorite of mine and I like “D” looks stunning here.

Her makeup was creatively done by Galilee and I love her emerald pearl necklace. If you are dying to get yourself one please stop by Fleur De Lis right here in our own Clarksville,TN. Since visiting, I now heart Fleur De Lis!!! So glad they have graced our town with their store.

Excuse me, I’ve got chocolate on my lips, I’d better go finish off all those crumbs. {Hehe, birthday’s are fun, even when I’m 29 and holding, again!}

Keep smiling,

Holly

Tetris Score and White Balance-Clarksville Wedding Photographer

Thank you for stopping by www.hollyannphoto.com.

No, it’s my turn!! You’ve been playing for 30 minutes already.{Exactly 30 minutes!} I was 11 and he was 10. We had to share one gray MAC computer and my favorite game Tetris. My brother and I competed {vigorously} for the top score. It is amazing how blocks falling from the sky can be so entertaining! After a while {when I beat my brother} I realized how much of a time waster Tetris was and I had to pull away from the game but it did teach me some lessons.

Shooting in Manual is kind of like Tetris. It takes several different aspects, ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture and White Balance to make the right picture. {Score, another line.}

The before picture was taken straight out of the camera {SOTC}. The camera needs to know what the temperature of the light is for every image it records. By setting your own white balance you give the camera the exact info it needs for the light temperature. I used my grey card and set it up in front of the purse. I followed my camera settings for selecting my own white balance and then I shot the second picture. The difference is very striking. {Depending on your monitor’s calibration it might not be spot on.But you get the idea.}

As long as you are shooting the same scene your white balance can remain the same. You can change your other settings for your preferences but now your camera knows what white should look like and all the other colors as well. Everything will be more accurate and true to the original.

Keep smiling and be sure to share this blog with a friend,

Holly

5 Tips for better Labor Day pictures-Saturday Surprises-Clarksville Photographer

Thank you for stopping by www.hollyannphoto.com.

Labor Day picnics are planned all over the country{no surprise there} and camera’s will be in hand to capture “Uncle Bob” at the grill, “Bobby” playing with “Katie” and don’t forget, the group photo. So here are some tips on getting the best group pictures.

1.Pick a nice background. Trees made a good, smooth background but the garage wont.

2.Take a tripod if you have one. Then no one will be left out of the picture.

3.Use a chair. If you don’t have a tripod for the group photo use a chair. The extra height makes everyone look up and double chins will disappear. {That will make “Aunt Rose” happy with you.}

4.Take the group photo first. {The kids will be cleaner and happier.}

5.Get closer everyone.{Huddle.} The closer you stand in pictures the better. Have families stand together and vary the height of everyone, a straight row doesn’t look as ascetically pleasing.

Hope this helps as you plan your group pictures.

Keep smiling and please share this blog with a photo friend of yours.

A Beautiful Clarksville Wedding-Clarksville Wedding Photographer

Thank you for stopping by www.hollyannphoto.com.

You may remember this sweet couple from their engagement pictures several months ago on Facebook.

I was thrilled though to be a part of this beautiful wedding day. The bright smile on Lana’s face lit up my whole day.

I’m a sucker for {adorable} black and white wedding photos.

For part of the guest favors they had several glass containers with “sweet” sayings such as this one. This one was for Hershey Kisses. {How cute is that!?!} The reception was held at the Hilton Garden Inn.

Not only is Lana a sweet and loving person at heart she is amazingly talented also. She handmade {Y.E.S. handmade} the cupcakes and her own wedding cake! Isn’t it beautiful?!

Congratulations Lana and Jonathan!

Keep smiling,

Holly

Cherry Station Antiques-Clarksville Photographer

Thank you for stopping by www.hollyannphoto.com.

I reached for the white marbled doorknob and stepped into an antiquer’s dream. The hardwood floor squeaked beneath my weight as I stepped across the threshold, as if it welcomed my arrival. The entryway presented me with four equally interesting options. {Left,right, straight or upstairs.} I picked the left room and began my exploration of history. Each of the 13 rooms were filled with treasures of all kinds.12 of the 13 rooms had fireplaces which, in days gone burned a warm flame. When I finally made my way upstairs I felt as if I was walking into my Grandma’s attic. The old wood pane windows I’m sure rattle their own song when the wind blows.

Downstairs I met sweet Ruth who manages the Cherry Station Antiques here in Clarksville,TN where Alvin visited. She told me that Cherry Station Antiques is the original home of Gilbert Slaughter. He was a farmer and owned many acres of land. When he built the  farm house in the 1870′s, the bricks were made and fired right where the home was. He and his wife had one daughter. At one time he was also a state legislator out of Nashville.

Someday, you need to take the time to wander through Cherry Station Antiques. You’ll be glad you did.

Keep smiling,

Holly
